Research Title
The optimal performance of the air conditioner using the natural refrigerant of GF-08 considering LCA thinking
Details
This study focused on developing an energy-saving, high-accuracy simulation model of the indoor thermal
environment of an air conditioner using the hydrocarbon refrigerant GF-08. It evaluated its energy-saving
performance in practical use. Note that the refrigerant of GF-08 consists of 50 vol.% propane and 50 vol.% of
propylene, one of the natural refrigerants. Natural refrigerants with low energy consumption and low global warming
potential are preferable. Here, first, the annual heat load calculations using a CFD simulator were carried out and
validated compared to the site measurement data of temperatures. Next, the optimal condition that contributed to
the eco-burden mitigation was found using the LCA methodology. Note that the coverage of our model included
not only the technology-specific requirements (constant), but also the number of people change and the
temperature change (dynamic aspects).
