*1 Public lecture is conducted in Japanese, since it aims to disseminate geographical results to Japanese citizens in honor of the joint-hosting of the IGU Kyoto Regional Conference by the National Committee of Japan for IGU and the Science Council of Japan. The venue of this public lecture is not the Kyoto International Conference Center but Clock Tower Centennial Hall, Kyoto University.
